I Qualified as a Technician in 1984 after a 3 year apprenticeship. I was taught to do repairs on  component level.

 

Today, that certainly helps to keep repair cost down. Our turn about time is in most cases two to three days, unless we have to source components.

Our repair record is very good. There has been the odd repair where the "Agents" of certain makes of instruments have disappeared off the face of the earth.
